Jack is great

Jun 08, 2016 by Marsha

The Kalorama has a dozen or so rooms in a lovely neighborhood about two blocks from the National Zoo, and a couple of blocks from some good restaurants down Connecticut in the other direction. I got to know the neighborhood quite well, because my husband was very sick for the last seven nights of a ten night stay, and I didn't want to go too far afield without checking on him. During that time, Jack went above and beyond with his hospitality, offering us snacks all day long, in addition to the breakfast that comes as part of the deal. It was also very convenient to have freezer, fridge, and free laundry available 24/7, especially under the circumstances.

Best night's sleep and my new home away from home in DC!

This is now my favorite place to stay in DC. From the moment I arrived, I felt right at home. Jack, the Innkeeper, has a wonderful kind heart and the energy in the place is very happy and comfortable. The beds and sheets are extremely comfortable and the rooms and inn are very clean. A full hot yummy breakfast was available each morning and Jack even had warm freshly baked cookies for guests every afternoon! I travel very often to DC for work and don't usually sleep very well. Best night's sleep I've had while in the city! This unique, historic inn has been in business for decades and it is located just a few blocks from the Woodley Park metro in a very cute residential brownstone apartment-filled neighborhood. I also didn't have any problems at all parking and left my car on the street for 4 days with the guest parking pass. There is dining just a 5 minute walk nearby, and the area is very safe. Jack has lots of recommendations for dining and things to do. He seems to know everyone in the area. I loved stayed at The Kalorama Inn and officially now calling it my home away from home when I'm in DC as long as there is availabilty. Thank you, Jack!

Comfortable and friendly.

An absolutely comfortable and enjoyable stay. The house is an amazing piece of history in a city full of history. Jack has to be the best host I've ever known. Thank you for the comfortable rooms, the wonderful breakfasts, (MMMMM French Toast), and the cold beer. My hat is off to you sir.

Relaxing, cozy and welcoming!

I attended a conference at the nearby Omni Sheraton and then lobbied on "The Hill," staying 3 days at the Kalorama Guest House. I am really glad I did! It was a short walk to the Omni, but had a nice neighborhood feel, quiet room, and interesting guests around the table each morning (other conference attendees plus a couple of great guests from Australia). Jack, the host, is wonderful and carried my heavy carry-on up to my 3rd floor room. Coffee and cookies always available plus other snacks. It was a great way to de-stress have a long day. I am glad I found this place! And it's a short walk to the Woodley Park Metro stop (Red Line), so it's convenient for traveling to downtown (Metro Station) or Capitol Hill (Union Station). Travel time on the Metro to Reagan Airport is about 40 minutes. Nice! there are a lot of cute restaurants in the area, many ethnic, so there's something for everyone. And even a CVS nearby, so no worries if you forgot something.

Awesome B&B!

First choice for future stays in DC! The host at Kalorama Guest House made our stay warm and welcoming. We felt at home from the first moment we walked in until we checked out. Jack went out of his way to engage guests, and make everyone comfortable. And the breakfast was great. Room was clean and homey, everything worked , plenty of hot water. Very close to metro for easy transportation everywhere. Thank you for a great first B & B experience!

A family type stay in Washington DC!

I have stayed at the Kalorama Guest House on three different occasions and why do I go back ? The place is like being at home. Their breakfast rivals the 4 Seasons and I get to meet everyone at breakfast from all over the world, The Host-Manager :JACK" is so accommodating with D C information and he is right there and available. But the hot cookies and a refreshment at 5/6 o'clock is the best way to end a day in our capital

Amazing place!

We've stayed here a few times and this is definitely our "go to" place when we visit DC. The rooms are comfortable. Breakfast is always delicious. Jack is an amazing host who always makes us feel at home! Within walking distance to metro stop, zoo and some great restaurants.

Fantastic B&B!

I was looking for a place near the Marriott Wardman hotel where I was attending a conference. The room Jack offered me was large yet cozy and the bed was very comfortable. The sound of a heavy thunderstorm the evening I was there only added to the charm and country-like ambience.
However, the highlight of the place was Jack. He was in every way a kind, considerate and friendly gentleman with a warm smile and easy going manner. The breakfast was freshly made, very tasty and an excellent way to start the day.
Stay at the Kalorama House when in will not be disappointed!
I know that is where I will stay next time I'm in DC.

I have a new favorite place in DC!

Room was lovely, common areas were warm and welcoming. Breakfast available until 10am which isn't the case in most hotels, but is significant for those coming from western time zones. Beautiful, convenient to Metro neighborhood in which I felt quite safe as a woman walking alone. As others have said, Jack is a delightful host. I truly felt like a *guest* at this lovely guest house.
